The Office of International Affairs (OIA), founded in 2006, is tasked to coordinate the ongoing process of internationalizing Taiwan Tech, and supports the efforts of our colleges, departments and research centres with their international collaborations. The OIA encompasses three divisions, the International Students Section, the Academic Exchange Section, and the Mainland China Affairs Section.

In 2019, our international student contingent has already expanded to around 13% (1,500 students) of our total student body (11,200+), representing over 50 countries. Likewise, we encourage our students to go abroad, offering various types of study-abroad scholarships for exchange programs with our partner universities to support their quest for international experience. Thus, Taiwan Tech boasts an almost balanced ratio of and incoming-outgoing exchange students.

The university currently offers 40 English-taught programs at the graduate study level, and encourages a steady increase in the number of English-taught courses at all levels. In 2017, the College of Engineering launched the International Advanced Technology Program, an all English-taught four-year international undergraduate program.Taiwan Tech has more than 300 partner institutions on four continents, with a focus on Europe and South East Asia. Following a global trend of transnational education, Taiwan Tech launched its first transnational project, the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP) in 2019.

The Office of International Affairs is the first place to go for international students. For questions on application, funding, insurance, campus life at Taiwan Tech etc., our competent and friendly staff is keen to offer advice. We hold orientation sessions for new students at the beginning of each semester, and we provide guidance in handling matters related to other Taiwan Tech offices and departments. In addition, we can provide assistance, including funding, for international student organizations planning activities which are open to the entire Taiwan Tech community.
