【轉知】韓國 建國大學(Konkuk University) ISS1 2026暑期課程資訊

You probably already know Konkuk for our K-Culture strengths: the K-Pop concert experience (with round-trip bus), cultural activities, and our famous Buddy Program with consistently top satisfaction ratings.

And as one of the few programs that keeps class sizes intentionally small, your students get a truly personal, immersive experience.

This summer, we're bringing serious academic firepower for STEM students: two great courses:

🧬 Course 1: Introduction to Biotechnology (Team Teaching)

Co-delivered by two instructors from different institutions:

  • Prof. Dong-Eun Kim — Full Professor & Dean at Konkuk (h-index 57, 170+ publications, 30+ patents in mRNA therapeutics & nanomedicine)
  • Dr. Joon Soo Park — Johns Hopkins University Ph.D. & Konkuk alumnus

This is a fully co-designed team-teaching course, not just guest lectures. Students explore nucleic acid biochemistry, mRNA therapeutics, and genetic diagnostics, getting two expert perspectives in every session: a world-class Korean researcher with 25+ years of experience and a rising scholar bridging Konkuk and Johns Hopkins.

Best for: Biology, Chemistry, Life Science & Engineering majors

🥽 Course 2: Introduction to Virtual Reality (3 Credits)

Taught by Prof. HyungSeok Kim, Ph.D. Full Professor at Konkuk's College of Engineering with 30+ publications in IEEE, ACM, and Scientific Reports. His expertise spans real-time graphics, VR interaction design, and motion sickness research, with recent books on Digital Twins in the Metaverse (2025). Students will study presence, immersion, sensory perception, and virtual environment modeling, culminating in a team-based VR service design project with six hands-on workshops.

This hands-on course covers the full spectrum of VR: immersive VR, augmented reality, mixed reality, and extended reality. Students study presence, immersion, sensory perception (visual, auditory, haptics), and virtual environment modeling.

Topics include: Perception & presence · VR systems · Interaction design · Multimodality & perceptual illusion · Motion sickness & health effects · Metaverse & future of VR

Best for: Engineering, Computer Science, Information Science, Arts & Sciences, Design & Media/Communication majors

So whether your students are into biotech, VR, or K-Culture,or all three, Konkuk ISS1 has something truly special waiting for them this summer.
