Inbound Exchange


Taiwan Tech's international exchange program is designed for students from our partner universities. Interested students who have passed the selection process in her/his home university have to consult the following information and complete the application.



Semester length

  1 semester = 5 months (18 teaching weeks)

  Fall: mid-September ~mid/late-January

  Spring: mid-Feb ~ mid/late-June        

 ( Please check academic calendar for specific dates)

Credit information

  1 credit = 18 teaching hours, 1 course = 2 or 3 credits 

  Each course lasts a semester (18 weeks )

  1 credit is usually equal to 2 or 3 ECTS credits (depends on home university)

Students at last year of Bachelor's level are allowed to take courses at Master's level (only open to limited courses which accept BA students). Students can take courses in different departments.

  • Spring Semester 2017:
  • Orientation:  10:00 am, February 17th, 2017. Location: International Building IB302 (3rd floor).
  • Map of the campus: Orientation on IB Building  (Pink color)
  • First day of class spring semester 2016February 20th, 2017.
  • Last day of class/ exams spring semester 2016: June 23rd, 2017.


  • First day of class Fall semester 2016: September 12th, 2016.
  • Last day of class/ exams Fall semester 2016: January13th, 2017.


 Course catalog  (Course list usually available 1 or 2 months prior to semester start) 

  • Specific course selection regulation will be sent to student by email in middle of June.
  • Course pre-selection (before arrival): After acceptance  students will receive an account & password for pre-selection in middle of June.
  • Course selection (during arrival) for the first 2 weeks: Students could add/ change classes on arrival.
  • Exchange student Information system  (For students who receive acceptance notice only)


  • Due to heavy demand of dorm & dorm renovation plan, Taiwan Tech is not able to provide you a place to stay during your exchange period with us. Students are advice to find housing by themselves, a list of housing is as follow.
  • Websites for house rental if you wish to find your own housing: Suggested area: NTNU, NTU, Gongguan MRT Station. Reasonable rate per person per month is between NT$ 7000- NT$ 14000, according to room types and location).


 Application Deadline 

  Application for spring semester: November 15th

  Application for fall semester: May 15th


 Application Result 

Application result will be sent to students and coordinators by email in late December/ late June.

An original copy of the Letter of Acceptance will be sent to applicants' home university in late December / late June.

 NOTICE: We are not able to guarantee your acceptance as all application will be evaluated by faculty committees. Please do not arrange your flight tickets unless you receive an official Letter of Acceptance from Taiwan Tech, NTUST


 Visa Application  

  • For those who are accepted to Taiwan Tech, please visit the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs for visa application.


  1. Visitor’s Visa: For those who will stay in Taiwan for no more than 6 months

  2. Resident Visas: For those who will study in Taiwan for more than 6 months.

  3. Alien Resident Certificate (ARC): For those who will study in Taiwan for more than 6 months. Students need to apply for their ARC within 15 days from the day after arrival. Please visit the National Immigration Agency website for application information:



                            Application information                               

All required application forms and documents must be sent to the OIA before the application deadlines via email or via post.


If the application is sent by email, please put all required documents into ONE PDF file+ a jpg for Id picture for each student. The file name should be the applicant's name + home university.  (e.g. Maggie Chen, National University).

All the application email should be sent from coordinator at home university to our coordinator Ms. Irene Ho.


  • Fill out the application
  • Prepare the required documents listed below:
  • Academic transcript
  • Study plan (size: A4, roughly 1-2 pages, may include motivation or courses/ subject/ fields you want to study)
  • 1 copy of passport (the page with your picture and information)
  • 1 copy of photo (please attach it on the first page of application form)
  • Health certificate (download)  (Set format required. The report is valid for 3 months. Applicants are advised to keep a hardcopy of their valid health certificate for further visa application)

NOTE: NTUST will only issue an official Letter of Acceptance after we receive the complete health certificate.
